Detalhes Research Grant

Academic requirements: Prospective applicants should hold a Masters degree in Sociology, and must preferably have previous experience in related areas, namely on social studies of health and reproductive medicine, and qualifications in quantitative and qualitative methods. Candidates are expected to write and to speak English with fluency.

Activity Outline: To handle and analyse quantitative and qualitative data; production of scientific papers.

Legislation and regulations: Lei Nº. 40/2004, from August 18 (Research Grant Holder Statute); Regulations for Advance Training and Qualification of Human Resources 2011.

Work place: Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, Portugal, under scientific supervision of Susana Silva.

Duration and Stipend: The grant will have an initial duration of 12 months, with a predicted starting date of January 2012, and a possible extension up to a period of 24 months. The financial aspects are outlined in the budget allowance of the project, which assigns a salary of 980€ per month, in accordance with the FCT regulations for monthly maintenance stipend in Portugal (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

Evaluation criteria and process: After curricular evaluation (0-10), an interview with the four first candidates may be requested to assess their relative merit (0-10). The final results of the evaluation will be available at http://www.ispup.up.pt/

Jury: The Jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed of: Doutora Susana Silva, Prof. Doutora Elisabete Ramos, and Mestre Sílvia Fraga.

Call start and finish dates: 14th of November to 30th of November 2011.
