Detalhes Announcement for Research Grant (Master degree)

Academic requirements: Prospective applicants should hold a Master degree and training in the area of health sciences, computer science or mathematics. Applicants must preferably have previous experience in scientific research, namely on database management and data analyses. Candidates are expected to write and to speak English with fluency.

Activity Outline: To handle and manage databases and to analyze data; production of scientific papers.

Legislation and regulations: Lei Nº. 40/2004, from August 18 (Research Grant Holder Statute); Regulations for Advance Training and Qualification of Human Resources 2011.

Work place: Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto and University of Porto Medical School, Portugal, under scientific supervision of Prof. Doutora Elisabete Ramos.

Duration and Stipend: The grant will have an initial duration of 12 months, eventually renewable for equal periods up to 3 years. The financial aspects are outlined in the budget allowance of the project, which assigns a salary of 980€ per month, in accordance with the FCT regulations for monthly maintenance stipend in Portugal (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores).

Evaluation criteria and process: After curricular evaluation (0-10), an interview with the four first candidates may be requested to assess their relative merit (0-10). The final results of the evaluation will be available at http://www.ispup.up.pt/

Jury: The Jury responsible for the evaluation process is composed of: Prof. Doutora Elisabete Ramos, Doutora Andreia Oliveira, and Doutora Susana Silva.

Call start and finish dates: 02th to 22nd of February 2012.
