The objective of this ecological study was to map, describe, quantify, and explain the geographic variation of hip fractures  incidence rates in Portugal, and determine the association  with possible risk factors.

We associated the patterns of incidence rates of hip fractures with environmental and socioeconomic data, using  Geographical Information Systems – GIS and tools of Spatial Statistical Analysis.
